Got a kid who won’t stop running and dodging everything in sight? Mini Rugby at Abu Dhabi Harlequins is built for them. Your child aged 4-8 plays Tag Rugby — fast, fun, and zero tackling — at Zayed Sports City.
Mini Rugby uses the Quick Rip system — players wear strips on their hips that opponents pull off instead of tackling. Your child gets all the excitement of rugby without the contact. Sessions cover fundamental ball skills, running, dodging, and catching. It’s energetic, friendly, and designed to build confidence on the pitch from the very first session.
Training runs Monday and Friday evenings, 6:00–7:00 PM. The season kicks off in August and runs through to March — a full rugby season with games, development, and plenty of memorable moments. The squad covers U5s through U8s, so your child trains with kids their own age and grows through the age groups over time.
Abu Dhabi Harlequins is one of Abu Dhabi’s longest-standing rugby clubs, originally founded in 1970 as the Abu Dhabi Rugby Union Football Club and rebranded as the Harlequins in 2008 following affiliation with the London Harlequins. The club is grassroots and not-for-profit — every dirham goes directly back into running the club. Coaches hold or work towards the L1 FAIR (First Aid in Rugby) qualification as required by the UAE Rugby Federation. Candice Woodhead leads Junior operations and is the first point of contact for new families.
Membership for the 2025/26 season includes kit. Annual fee covers the full season (August to March). Pro rata membership is available for players joining mid-season — contact the club directly.
